But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the Academy Award-nominated Pete Docter.

What is the Media?

Media is the plural of ‘medium’ and refers to a: “medium of communication as being a conduit through which message are channelled and pass between one person and another or from one to another” (Long and Wall 2009:2-3)

I usually consume on online because shopping on the online is very convenient. you don’t need to go out you just need your computer and your card. After order the things they will delivery to your place. Sometimes Facebook and Youtube will have advertising to attract you to consume on the online. I usually consume shoes and cloths, something for fashion on online. For example, Nike, Urban Outfitters, Ebay, Topshop, Cos official webpage can do online shopping. You also can choose pay by credit card or debit card.

Today we are doing a activity – research without google, we just can use Youtube and Twitter. I did a research about falklands crisis. Falklands crisis was a 1982 war between Argentina and the United Kingdom. The conflict resulted from the long-standing dispute over the sovereignty if the Falkland island and South Georgia and the South Sandwich island, which lie in the South Atlantic, east of Argentina. The teacher from Argentina taught their students about the Falklands island. They told students the Falkland island is belong to them. After watched the video on Youtube, I looked through the comments below the video. I saw there still have argument about who is belong with Falkland island. Someone said it is belong to UK, France or Spain.

When we were preparing to start the course before, we were preparing the induction project in the same time. In this induction project we need to provide a presentation to talk about introduction to media and communications course. Each group got five students and we need to divide work for each people or do it together.

In our group, we were thinking to do a video about interview second or third year student who studying media and communications in Coventry. Also, ask them some questions are about our course. We divided our members into three groups, which are doing PowerPoint of our presentation; invite student to do an interview and filming, another group is doing editing. I was doing filming and editing part. We started to film the interview with a girl who is graduated in Coventry and she did media and communications. We asked her 5 questions and filmed some video of the fresher’s week because it is relative to the highlights of activities and events.

After the filming, I used iMovie to do the editing part. The whole presentation was good but we ran over time. This is a good experience that I can do it better of the timing. Also, when we asking the questions to the interviewee we need to follow the questions that teacher gave us before. It is because most questions are created by our own. We also need to invite more students to be in the camera better than one. Moreover, we could use different angle to film the video. It could make different view and feel.

How are you? I hope you are well but I know you are not. How is everything going before the media course and induction week is starting? I know you must be anxious about the university life, coursework, friends and feeling homesick. Right? Oh my lovely, Jass, everything is going to be all right. When you are facing a big problem that you should not escape you must need to be brave to face at. Jass, I wish you could finish these aims before the end of this year.

First of all, hope you can join any societies to fulfill yourself and meet new friends from different countries. Please be active in society, class and group work. Try your best to anything includes academics, sports, socialize and working etc. Second, hope you can keep your academic progress. You need to do more extra work at home, and also do revision after the class. You need to communicate with local people to practice your English.

Third, enjoy university life and give yourself a break to travel around Europe. Living without parents’ shelter that you must need to learn how to take care yourself and independent. Hope you everything is going well. I know that you need to choose an add+vantage course to learn I hope you can choose Spanish and wish you could cope with it. Moreover, as being a media student you must need to know how to use Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, InDesign and Dreamweaver etc. It is because media student need to do editing with photos, video, radio and magazine etc. So, I want you to learn these software. As you know cabinet of curiosities is a ‘marvel room’. Inside the room, you can see collections of objects as today’s museum. My ‘marvel room’ is very scary, very spooky and oddly creepy. It is all about horror movies because I have an interest in horror movies. This is my first time to do my own cabinet of curiosities.

I used to watch many horror movies from different countries such as United Kingdom, USA, Spain, France, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea etc. When I have spare time to stay at home I will watch the horror movie. I have been collecting many horror movies in my mind or my ‘marvel room’. The criteria of the horror movies collection are which movie can make me scared that I will put it into my cabinet. So, I have been collecting a lot of horror movies from different countries. But I found that my criterion is too simple.

As a good horror movie, the narrative is the important part to start making a movie. It is difficult to write a good narrative but you can think about an idea around the villain or demon. The common film colour schemes are always using complementary colour scheme.

The complementary colour scheme is two colour on opposite side of a colour wheel. Also, if you want to build up a real image of villain, demon or ghost than makeup is significant and using different angle can make a different view. In addition, a lot of movies has deep meaning such as ideology, representation and stereotype. If I haven’t been studying media in the UK, I have ever learnt this knowledge. I think I need to re-build my ‘marvel room’ by using this knowledge to analyse which one is a good horror movie. Not only look at which one is most scary I also need to look at different ways.

This is a black and white and best documentary with sight and sound. This film was made by Russian, no story and no actor. When I saw this movie I felt interesting. The file presented urban life in Ukraine and Soviet Union. The narrative of this film was using silent documentary.
